“Thank you Dornbirn, I really felt at home here. It was an incredible event, and please thank everybody”, Leonella from Mexico wrote. “I will never ever forget the World Gymnaestrada 2007– a really unique spectacle that made me proud to be a Vorarlberger – Thank you for everything!” said Christoph from Vorarlberg. The World Gymnaestrada 2007 was an unforgettable festival for guests and hosts alike. The OC members too would like to extend their gratitude to everybody concerned throughout the world. A big thank you to all participants and everybody sharing our interests in the World Gymnaestrada. Many people have “invested” their joy, enthusiasm and their heart in this world festival of gymnastics to celebrate it together. A special thank you to the 21,000 participants from 56 nations who have trained for years to create extraordinary choreographies for a World Gymnaestrada of an unparalleled sportive level. For many participants it was an enormous organisational and financial effort to enable them to make the journey to Dornbirn possible. Many institutions, authorities, associations, volunteer organisations and thousands of enthusiastic people supported this event - quite extraordinary and unique for a small region like Vorarlberg. They invested a lot of energy and commitment in this festival and supported the OC: the town Dornbirn, the Province of Vorarlberg, the Republic of Austria, tourist organisations, the Vorarlberg National Villages, the local gymnastic associations and many other clubs, the Red Cross, doctors, fire-brigades, schools and their caretakers, religious denominations, bus and train drivers ….. to name but a few. The thousands of voluntary helpers at eleven venues, in the schools, on open-air stages and in supporting programmes gave the World Gymnaestrada 2007 that special personal touch unparalleled to all previous world festivals of gymnastics. We would like to thank the 70 partners and sponsors, without their financial support the staging of the World Gymnaestrada would not have been possible. A thank you to all the people in Vorarlberg and to the visitors from our neighbouring countries for their enthusiasm, interest and their applause for the gymnasts and their performances, their ideas, their creativity and magnificent shows. |
